One concept. One expert panel. Your mission: Persuade them to follow you!
The competition will begin on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 and continue through November 5, 2009, with the Awards Gala following the finals in the evening of November 5, 2009. Competition registration includes registration for Boot Camp. We believe the Boot Camp experience to be invaluable to a good competition entry, though any entrants can choose to view the Boot Camp Webcast if they cannot attend in person.
Entrants must also submit a proposal along with their entry application in addition to their registration: competition registrants have until Oct 27th to submit their proposal and entry information.
The competition will offer applicants the choice to submit in either Concept or Prototype Categories. Both streams will run concurrently. During two days of competition each participant will have a thirty minute session before a judging panel. In the first 10 minutes they will make their pitch. This will be followed immediately by 20 minutes of discussion and review with the panel. Entries will be judged based on a) Innovation, b) Creativity, c) Commercial Appeal, and d) Competence of Application and Pitch. Two winners will be selected from each category each day of the competition. The four finalists will face off at the end of the second day, November 5, 2009 at the Semi-Finals. Here, each Semi-Finalist will have the opportunity to make a 10-minute pitch to a panel of internationally renowned judges. The chosen top four will compete to be declared the winner of the Vortex Competition and will be given their prizes at the Awards Ceremony with Gala to follow.
Prizing
We are excited to offer this year’s winners prize package which is worth potentially tens of thousands of dollars and includes mentoring by established industry executives tailored to their needs, and the opportunity to have their games commercialized through a variety of channels.
Cash Prize
A cash prize of $4000 will be awarded to the final winner of Vortex.
Distribution
The winner of Vortex will qualify to receive TransGaming’s assistance in bringing their games to market. Specifically, TransGaming will provide feedback on how to improve and/or refine the game, if necessary, for commercialization and will apply its portability technology to bring the game to the Mac and ready it for distribution for the digital home. Once complete, TransGaming will deploy the game on its GameTree network and will include the game within its GameTree.tv property, launching in early 2010, for global CE consumers.. TransGaming may also make introductions to larger publishers the company has relationships with for the possibility of a retail publishing agreement.
Yummy Interactive will add the winner’s finished PC Game product to its subscription service network reaching 15million broadband subscribers worldwide. With this comes the earning potential of a share of the services’ subscription royalties. The winning product will get a complimentary copy of Yummy Interactive’s GameShield Licensing Software Suite along with a 6month royalty free ‘launch window’ i.e. The developer will have everything they need to protect, license and deploy their own product completely cost free for 6 months following the commercial launch of the product.
